We will also include cook books, home and garden magazines, music CD’s, and other miscellaneous items. Check in the Coffee Barn for a drop-off box. Mount Baker Winery

June 25, Mount Baker Vineyards and Winery was the setting for a casual and relaxing picnic and wine tasting. Fourteen Sudden Valley women, and three husbands, enjoyed a winery tour before gathering on the patio for a lunch provided by the Valley Market. The Women’s Club is looking forward to many more outings in the coming year, in addition to the regular monthly luncheons. Membership forms will be mailed out in August as well as an invitation to participate in the September “Welcome Champagne Brunch” where members learn about all the Interest Groups.

Enthusiasm High for New Season

Thursday, June 11, 2009 19:08

A number of members joined with the Planning Committee, Wednesday, June 10, in the Coffee Barn. A great many ideas were explored for events outside the regular luncheon meetings–such as an Art Show and Wine Tasting with the Valley Arts Group; a combined luncheon with the Women’s Club and the Lunch Bunch and the Second Helping; a presentation by Denise Champion on the proposed Community Garden; a High Tea; a catered dinner in the Barn.

The next Steering Committee meeting will be August 12, in the Coffee Barn, to prepare the mailing of membership renewal forms.

Planning for Next Season

Monday, May 25, 2009 18:04

Sudden Valley Women’s Club
Planning for Next Season

The Sudden Valley Women’s Club survey was mailed out to all the members and the results will be reviewed and used to plan meetings and events for the 2009-2010 season.

The Women’s Club meets September through May. The September meeting is a “Welcome Brunch” at Bob’s Burgers & Brew to welcome both new and returning members. The sub-groups, such as the Book Clubs, Valley Arts Group, Lunch groups, etc., will have booths to provide information and sign-up opportunities.

All of the sub-groups offer opportunities for Sudden Valley women to meet and make new friends with similar interests. The Out-to-Lunch-Bunch has enjoyed exploring restaurants in and around Bellingham. For the May excursion, the group enjoyed the spectacular food at the Skagit Valley Casino’s Market Buffet. The new Mystery Book Club meets the second Thursday of the month at 11:30 a.m. in the Coffee Barn.

Want exercise that is not boring? A Zumba workout mixes body-sculpting movements with dance steps…mostly from Latin music! This may be one of our new offerings, so let us know if you would like to join in!

Our October luncheon will be held at Tino’s in the Valley Village Mall.
The November event will be our annual trip to Nordstrom’s.
December will be a very special Holiday Gala.

The Women’s Club is looking for new members for the steering committee. Open positions include Publicity and Historian. All the committees need helpers, especially the hospitality committee.
If you are interested in helping out (or just providing advice), please join us at the summer Board meeting on June 10th in the Coffee Barn. Time commitment is minimal and you will enjoy being part of the team.

Are you new to Sudden Valley? The Women’s Club is a great way to get acquainted!
Give me a call for more information and to sign up for these events. Carolyn: 714-8901.
